Lumbar Thoughts
Campus panic is a sustained note in the American public conversation; from Vietnam to Gaza, it has never let up. Reliably, every few months something happens “on campus” that the media inflates to the status of a national emergency: a speaker is invited, a speaker is disinvited, a speaker is not disinvited, a professor teaches, a student complains, a protest takes place. The media offers these incidents as scandals so fascinating and disturbing that they eclipse even a genocide. - Parapraxis

Eighty-Six Percent of Guantanamo Bay Inmates Were Sold to American Troops in Response to $5,000 Bounty Offer: Since 2002, 775 men have been detained at Guantánamo Bay, though only eight have been convicted of any crimes, with four of those convictions reversed…Diaz makes a point of presenting in graphic detail the torture that Sadek and other inmates experienced, including their being chained to the ceiling and floor, being sexually assaulted, subjected to mock executions, sleep and food deprivation, forced hooding, being buried underground and the water torture method designed to simulate drowning.

“New Guantánamo”: Euro-Med Monitor calls for international probe into Israel’s torture and murder of Gaza detainees: Following their release from detention, the Israeli military has purposefully left Palestinian prisoners blindfolded, nearly nude, and kneeling on the ground, after subjecting them to all forms of beatings and ill-treatment. Furthermore, Euro-Med Monitor stated that it has been unable to report the arrest of a single Palestinian resistance fighter at the time of this publication, either because fighters’ families have been unwilling to report such cases, or because the Israeli army has not disclosed the identities of the detainees or even actually captured any members of the resistance.
"Portugal was the country that seemed immune to the radical right and suddenly all of that changed," Valentim said. "It is important to understand what happened because you cannot combat a phenomenon without understanding its causes. - Reuters
Single atoms captured morphing into quantum waves in startling image
In a quantum-holographic history, this retroactivity is rendered visible, and all superpositions that were present in the past and were erased through their collapse are rendered visible again. In this sense one can even say that Walter Benjamin, in his Theses on History, proposes a holographic notion of history in contrast to the predominant progressist-evolutionary version: a present revolution redeems the past, i.e., it re-actualizes past superpositions lost in their collapse towards a ruling ideology. - SUPERPOSITIONS, QUANTUM AND HISTORIC

On 10 April, in the thick of the war on Gaza, the Israeli government, facing a labor crisis, announced that it would fly in 6,000 Indian laborers during April and May on state-subsidized shuttle flights…Canadian immigration attorney Aidan Simardone, speaking to The Cradle, compares the situation to historical colonial practices in North America where marginalized European religious groups, like the Puritans, were brought in to service colonial interests. Israel, he points out, is adopting a similar strategy by recruiting economically disadvantaged Hindu Indians from regions like Uttar Pradesh, aiming to manage demographic and political challenges seamlessly. - The Cradle
